deane-domination.jpg For immediate release September 20th - 2011 London Drift Allstars European Series 2011 – Finals Wembley James Deane clinches the 2011 Drift Allstars European series win in the LBD/Rockstar Energy Nissan PS13 Wembley Stadium, London played host to the final leg of the 2011 Drift Allstars European Series. For the fourth year Wembley played host to the final round of the Drift Allstars series. It was also one of the best, closest and most exciting events yet, with such a slim gap between points leader James Deane and Nigel Colfer. For the 2011 Event a new track tested drivers to the absolute limit and with a record 10 different nations competing, several national champions and Formula Drift points leader Daijiro Yoshihara added to the mix in the Falken Tyre Driftworks S15. In qualifying it was James in the LBD/Rockstar Energy PS13 who took P1 with a display of speed, angle and overall show factor that wowed the crowds. Hot on his heels was British Championship leader Matt Carter in the Falken Tyres S14 and Irish front-runner Gavin Lenihen taking P3. Daijiro Yoshihara qualified in 6th while championship contender Nigel Colfer in the new Spec Clutch Marangoni Tyres S13 qualified a lowly 13th. Deane had the upper edge going into the battles and 10 extra points from qualifying on top. This event was the final round of the series, the top 32 format is used with more battles and more points. All the main players marched forward to the top 16 while Spanish Champ Lluis Lopez and Tudor Dunov from Bulgaria show moments of brilliance . Just before top 16 a rain shower dropped slowing down the proceedings and make this technical track push drivers to the absolute limit as they fought for grip and their place in the final 8. James saw his way through to the great 8 after a close battle with Wesley Keating. Nigel Colfer had a tough battle against Gavin Lenihen , and after a one more time and kept his championship alive. Freshly crowned Irish Champion Alan Sinnot beat country man Dan Moorhead to make it into the great 8 with 3 Irish drivers in the final 8. Reigning Spanish champ Lluis Lopez seemed to come into his own in the wet and took out UK driver Grant Laker after a one more time in the tricky conditions. Michael Marshal beat Matt Carter after the falken driver had a spin on exit of the last corner. Walton smith fighting for a podium place in the championship got drawn against Daijiro Yoshihara but a drive shaft problem ended his night, Christy carpenter in the Yokohama S15 who was looking good all weekend but again a power steering problem ended his night against top Bulgarian driver Todor Dunev. The Great 8 was going to decide a lot at Wembley this year with many many surprises. The championship would be decided in the final 8 when James Deane was paired off again championship rival Nigel Colfer. After the closest battles of the night and a one more time Deane would edge the win and not only a pass through to the final 4 but the championship. The crowd went crazy. Allan Sinnot current Irish champion would face off against Lluis Lopez current Spanish Champion in what would be another close battle. Sinnot would gain a slight edge with his experience and a pass through to the final 4. Daijiro Yoshihara would face Todor Duneve in a Japan Vs Bulgarian battle. Dai would lead the first run and have a good run but in the chase run had two straightens which was enough to send the Bulgarian Todor Dunev to the final 4. Big surprises of the night was the drives of both Paul Howard from JDM garage and, Michael Marshal of M n M Engineering who both fought hard for the final placing but Marshals confidence would send him through to the final 4. In the final 4 James Dean would be up against his fellow countryman Sinnot in another battle of two very close runs. The track started to dry and Sinnots tyres started to go off straight away sparking on track losing the battle. In the other semi final a last minute tyre change and lack in grip was enough for Todor to lose an advantage on marshal In the final it would Marshal would face off his first ever final against the machine James deane.Deane would lead and his confidence was clearing pulling distance on marshal in the fionals and having a great follow run also With 6 podiums this season, including four wins, and several other dominating wins in European event James has left his mark as the Number 1 driver in Europe to beat. James Deane said “I cant believe the 2011 season is over, but it could not have finished any better for the team. After my first run of the weekend I had a good feeling about it. The track suited my style. We pushed hard all weekend and we finished up with 1st in Qualifying winning the event and best of all winning the 2011 Drift Allstars European series. Massive thanks to everyone who made this possible for us this year. My family, friends, Team LBD, Rockstar Energy, Opie Oils, DeanmSport, Ashfab and everyone else who helped out.
