Driver Feature Friday - Christy Carpenter

This week we catch up with Christy Carpenter, one of our longest serving drivers. First appearing in 2007 at Night Fight, the 2007 UK vs Ireland event, in which Christy broke everything on his freshly unveiled Koguchi Power Ex-D1 PS13. The Top Fuel Imports team always turns out some of the best cars, and for 2010 they have one of the most potent packages in the paddock.

Name: Christy carpenter
Age: 24

Hometown: Quin, Co.clare, Ireland
2010 car spec info: 550bhp 1JZ BN Sports S15

Christy on his debut with the 2009 car:
‘This was a complete shell up build by Garage-D in Watford where there was no compromise on the build of the car. The car was fitted with a full built RB26DET running 550hp.
As a top qualifier in my brand new car, I had made a successful Debut. The RB26DET Powered 2009 car has now been changed to a Toyota 1JZ GTE engine swap for the 2010 Season, for a more reliable package’

In the first round he came up against Jan from the Czezh Republic, in his E36 BMW. A battle that went to a one more time and Christy progressed to the Top 16.

In the next battle Christy came up against Lars Verbaeken from team Falken, the number 1 qualifier of the weekend, and a man on form. Christy had a tough battle, but managed to progress to the Great 8.

In the top 8 battles, Christy faced one of the front runners of the series, Dan Chapman. With an already a huge result for the Top Fuel Imports team, things were looking good, but today was the day that Dan Chapman was marching forwards, stamping down an overall event win.
